Problem
You want to run your performing arts organization like a business, but don’t know where to start.
You want to make better data-driven decisions with confidence, but don't have the time to make up-to-date stats, charts, and tables yourself. You certainly don't have the budget to hire consultants.

Solution
Plug Bolero into your CRM.
Get answers to over 25 critical questions you need answered.
Bolero exists because most arts organizations need answers to the same questions using the same data. Bolero takes advantage of this fact and simply automates answering common questions. Unlike other platforms, we exclusively focus on answering questions and delivering you answers you can plan your day and season around.
What are some questions Bolero will answer?
- [ X ] Which segments of your patrons drive the majority of ticket revenue?
- [ X ] How many of your patrons actually return every year?
- [ X ] Do patrons who you give comp tickets eventually start buying?
- [ X ] How does time of performance, day of week, and season affect ticket sales?
- [ X ] What types of programming are most attractive to new patrons?
- [ X ] What what types of programming are best at bringing people back?
- [ X ] Where do your highest revenue patrons live?
What does it cost?

FAQs
With Bolero, the more data, the better. If you are regularly putting on performances throughout a typical 40 week season, you will have more than enough data to see trends related to patron retention, market segmentation, and the other questions we answer.Previous clients have sent us anywhere from 5,000 to 500,000 tickets (though we would be happy to analyze even more...).We'll tell you if Bolero is worth it for your organization during our discovery call. If it isn't, we'll tell you what it'd take to get there. (We want you as a partner when you're ready!)
Yes, if you are considering hiring a team of consultants, the Bolero is a viable-- almost always less expensive-- alternative to working with a team of consultants if you want answers about ticket sales. What we offer is different in that we have built software that automates common analyses done by consultants in something like an Excel Workbook. Except we don't point-and-click our analysis (very prone to human error!), we use modern coding frameworks to streamline this. We'll also make recommendations about what to do with your analyses, but our recommendations are currently limited to ticket data. If what you need answered is not answered by Bolero, we'll point you in the right direction of who to work with.
Yes. If you use something like Spektrix, Tess or UpStage for your CRM, you are probably our ideal partner! Right now all of our clients use Spektrix. If you're our first user that uses a CRM we haven't worked with yet (Tess, UpStage), we'll even throw you a discount if you mention this answer. As long as you can export all your tickets as spreadsheet, there shouldn't be any issues.
We will be rolling out new products in the future that meet this need. We are happy to tell you about these when we chat. Knowing what other questions you'd like answered helps improve Bolero, so please tell us what's on your mind!
Yes, it is true most CRMs have reporting functionality. Bolero's reporting differs in a few ways.First, Bolero uses all of your CRM's data to make many of its charts. This means segmenting across hundreds of thousands of ticket sales, not just calculating some recently summary statistics.Second, Bolero retrofits many standard cohort and revenue retention analyses that are common in the world of tech. We've yet to see a CRM that creates these automatically.Third, we take full advantage of modern technology stacks to make assets like dynamic maps and fit state of the art statistical models.Bolero was created by a scientist who knows how to get the most out of your data (see below). Expect to learn a few new concepts during our sprint! When we're done working together, you're going to feel like you learned something new!
If your data is clean and the data needed to answer it is there, we're happy to include a handful of questions in your report. The more we know about what our customers would like answered, the better we can make Bolero for the future. We'll discuss these questions at our kickoff meeting.Need something more comprehensive? We're happy to also provide custom solutions.
Bolero exists because most CRMs store their data in the same format. We've built an automated analysis pipeline that takes your data and makes many of the difficult-to-recreate charts without all the error prone point-and-click rituals you'd need to make it in Excel. This means most of our time and energy can go into interpreting your data and telling you what it means. It also means that as soon as we write new software, it's simple to update and expand our offerings. Our process is also very streamlined. Scope creep is limited to the one or two new questions we include for you.Scroll way down to see this in detail if you're the type of person who likes to dive into the details.
Bolero was built by a former academic scientist with a PhD and background in the performing arts. He knows a lot about music, science, and stats. He's published papers on Beethoven's DNA, Eurovision, audio branding, pre-dominant chords, musical memory, melodic dictation, leitmotives, and continues to collaborate with academics because he loves learning new things.
